OSHA Safety Signs & Labels

Much of what safety signs and labels are used for is determined by OSHA. The OSHA 1910.145 and ANSI Z535 (which OSHA 1910.145 references) codes provide the standards for OSHA safety signs.

For example, an OSHA-compliant warehouse is one wherein all potential and obvious hazards and dangers are clearly indicated to maximize employee safety and overall facility functionality.  

OSHA mandates the content and design of some signs and labels, stating that employers must ensure that each sign or label is clearly visible with current and pertinent information. Further, any hazardous chemicals must be clearly labeled, as should all areas, pipes, tanks, etc., containing hazardous materials. Using pipe markers, wire wraps, RTK labels, and other specialized labels is necessary for a facility to meet OSHA standards.
